was originally supposed to face Jorge Cota, but Cota’s out and Ahmed was already training for a Dec. 12 fight, so he got the call for a big opportunity.

Ahmed did challenge for a world title at 168 in 2018, though he did not do well. The 30-year-old away fighter came in at 152½ for this one, while the towering Fundora.

Veteran welterweights Josesito Lopez (37-8, 20 KO) and Francisco Santana (25-8-1, 12 KO) are set for a 10-round bout.

The 36-year-old Lopez came in at 146¼, with Santana at 147¾; not clear if it was a hard 147-pound limit,

but often non-title fights have a pound of wiggle room or so.

Either way the fight is going to go on tomorrow night, and could be a good one. Both are scrappy, battle-tested guys.

Featherweights Eduardo Ramirez (23-2-3, 10 KO) and Miguel Flores (24-3, 12 KO) will meet in a 12-round WBA eliminator.

Julio Ceja was originally Ramirez’s opponent, but is out with COVID. Flores stepped in on short notice. Ramirez, 27.
