Cage Warriors bantamweight champion Jack Cartwright registered his second defense of the promotion’s 135-pound title,

then said he’s ready to step up to the UFC and mix it up with the best bantamweights in the world.

Cartwright (9-0) defeated Dutch challenger Gerardo Fanny (9-2) via first.

and his eighth first-round finish overall, before calling for his shot in the octagon.

Cartwright started fast as he connected with a big right hand and immediately secured a takedown,

but Fanny smartly reversed position and briefly threatened before Cartwright re-established top position ,

and swiftly locked up an arm-triangle choke to force the tap at the 2:04 mark.

“I’m absolutely buzzing,” said Cartwright after his win. “It’s been a hard time for everyone – we’ve been locked in a hotel for the last week,

so I was exited to get in there and show everyone my skills.”

When asked who else could challenge him for his Cage Warriors title, Cartwright grinned and replied, “Nobody! I want to go to the UFC.

I want to go to the big leagues, put on some big performances and dust some people over there I want to go over there,

smash some people and show what the Brits are all about. … I’m always ready. I’ll always be ready.”

Cartwright received backing from Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan, who said he thinks the Manchester man is ready to make the step up ,

and make an impact in the UFC’s bantamweight division.

“I definitely believe Jack is ready,” said Boylan. “It’ll be nice to see him go, but their roster’s pretty full over here,

so hopefully there’s a space there for him.”
