New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW)’s last round robin tournament of the year is here!
This year’s version of World Tag League, the 8th under that name, will feature 16 teams competing across 17 dates for a spot in the finals on
December 8. Several of the shows will be broadcasts worldwide on New Japan’s streaming service, NJPW World, and those that do not, the
tournament matches will be uploaded to the service on VOD as soon as possible after the fact.
We’ll have open threads & results for each show that’s broadcast live (past results can be found here), so why not watch along with the
best pro wrestling community on the internet? As well, standings will be updated in each results post, but given that this is night one,
all teams start on even footing.
BIOGRAPHY
A CHAOS fan favorite who has saw sudden success as a singles wrestler in 2016. YOSHI-HASHI trained in Mexico starting in May 2010, and returned to
NJPW to join CHAOS in January 2012. Although he failed to initially find clear successes, his popularity slowly grew due to his unique personality and
showmanship outside the ring. With this momentum he entered the G1 CLIMAX in 2016 and debuted his new finisher, Karma. It was there that he
defeated Kenny Omega and achieved one of his crowning glories.
In 2018, when Jay White betrayed Kazuchika Okada and left CHAOS in shocking fashion, YOSHI-HASHI leapt to the defence of friend Okada,
but suffered severe shoulder and head injuries in the process. Coming back to the ring at New Year Dash 2019, YOSHI-HASHI is now
looking to come back to the forefront of NJPW.
