Making his NJPW debut as Tetsuya Naito’s “pareja” in October 2015, EVIL surprised many with his speed in the ring, belying his powerful frame. 

A short reign with the NEVER Openweight Championship in late 2016 made many take notice, but it was in 2017 that EVIL seemed to truly arrive.

His G1 Climax 27 campaign showed off EVIL’s considerable power and ability NJPW Free Stream,

and anybody still on the fence was convinced when the ‘King of Darkness’ defeated Kazuchika Okada in Osaka, ending the Rainmaker’s winning streak. 

EVIL got more material success in tag team action. Along with SANADA, he won back to back World Tag Leagues in 2017 and 2018,

and converted those wins into IWGP Tag Team Championships at the following Wrestle Kingdom.

EVIL and SANADA also gelled well with BUSHI, and as a trio, won the NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Championships three times.

In 2019’s G1 Climax however, EVIL sought to set himself apart as a distinct singles competitor once more, and did so effectively with a win over his partner SANADA.

While still a part of LIJ, EVIL was determined to be more than just a team player.

On January 5 2020 at Wrestle Kingdom 14, EVIL teamed up with BUSHI & Shingo Takagi NJPW Free Stream

winning the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship in a gauntlet match. Declaring that they would elevate the titles’ status EVIL,

BUSHI and Shingo Takagi quickly racked up defences heading into the spring.

Still, rumours that EVIL was fading into the background in LIJ motivated the King of Darkness to live up his name in the New Japan Cup.

EVIL would score several controversial wins with low blows and vicious assaults, en route to an Osaka final with Kazuchika Okada. There,

Gedo and Yujiro Takahashi bizarrely became involved before a pair of low blows led to EVIL’s first New Japan Cup NJPW Free Stream

Afterward, EVIL laid out Tetsuya Naito and declared himself done with LIJ, bringing his dark presence instead to BULLET CLUB.

The next night, a brutal battle with Tetsuya Naito ended with further controversy, a man dressed in BUSHI’s outfit choking Naito before EVIL struck,

becoming the second double IWGP Intercontinental and Heavyweight Champion in history.

The man under BUSHI’s mask was revealed to be accomplished veteran Dick Togo NJPW Free Stream

the two forming what could be an unstoppable dark force at the top of New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
