    Ortiz, 22, is one of Golden Boy’s two big hopes for the coming years along with lightweight Ryan Garcia,

    and is high among the top prospects in all of boxing right now. He’s had a series of good wins for where he’s at in his career,

    and hopes to put the 31-year-old Hooker on that list.

     

    Tonight at 9 pm ET streaming live on DAZN, top rising welterweight Vergil Ortiz Jr looks to keep his hype train rolling ,

    when he faces former junior welterweight titlist Maurice Hooker in the 12-round main event from Fort Worth, Texas.

    Wil Esco will be on the round-by-round call for Ortiz-Hooker, as well as the co-feature where Anabel Ortiz defends her WBA 105-pound title against Seniesa Estrada.

    face former WBO junior welterweight champion Maurice Hooker at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas on Saturday, March 20 (3/20/2021).

    Ortiz Jr. comes into the fight with a record of 16-0, all decided by knockouts. His fight against Hooker will be his biggest to date. Coming into this fight Ortiz Jr.

    only had one fight in 2020 against Samuel Vargas, who he knocked out in the 7th round.

     

    Hooker (27-1-3) enters the ring for the first time in 15 months. His last fight came against Uriel Perez who he beat via first-round TKO.
    This is also Hooker’s first full-fledged fight as a welterweight.

    In a rare situation, both fighters will be fighting in their hometown of Dallas,

    Texas, and will be looking to prove who is the top fighter in the city.
