Former WBO junior featherweight champion Jessie Magdaleno (27-1, 18 KOs) will begin

his climb back into title contention when he faces Yenifel Vicente (36-4-2, 28 KOs)

in the main event of Top Rank’s second fight card this week as the sport returns

for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the sports world back in March.

In the U.S., ESPN will broadcast the four-fight card on Thursday, June 11 at the MGM

Grand Conference Center Grand Ballroom in Las Vegas.

It comes two days after Shakur Stevenson stopped Felix Caraballo

with a sixth-round KO in boxing’s return.

Magdaleno was originally slated to fight on March 14 at Madison

Square Garden in New York before COVID-19 struck. He’s aiming to get back

into position to compete for a world title as he looks to win his third fight in

a row since dropping his title to Isaac Dogboe via 11th-round TKO in April 2018.

Vicente plans to disrupt Magdaleno’s climb up the ladder and has won 11 of his past 12 fights.

The five-fight card kicks off at 7 p.m. ET. Magdaleno and Vicente are expected to take their ring

walks about 9:30 p.m., although the exact time depends on the length of the earlier fights.

A 28-year-old American, Magdaleno suffered his only loss in April 2018

when Isaac Dogboe stopped him in Round 11. Since then, he has won two fights,

but it should be noted he had trouble making the 128-pound catchweight limit for this bout.

Vicente has knocked out two-thirds of his opponents, and.

Kahn says Magdaleno would be foolish to take him lightly.

“Don’t let his four losses in 42 professional fights fool you,” Kahn told SportsLine.

“Vicente is game and he’s coming to pull the upset. Vicente’s losses have come

to prospects and contenders, and he’s never been stopped in his four losses.
