    AEW Fyter Fest Night 1

AEW Fyter Fest returns next week. Not as its own PPV, but as a two-week event that will span two special episodes of Dynamite. Night one will take place on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, live on TNT.

Since Fyter Fest night one will just be a themed edition of Dynamite, it will begin at the usual time of 8 pm EST, last two hours, and not have a preshow.

Or a Buy-In as AEW calls them since there will be nothing to buy. Below are all the matches announced for Fyter Fest night one so far.

    AEW Fyter Fest Night 1

Everything is bigger in Texas and All Elite Wrestling finds itself deep in the heart of the “Lone Star” state for the first night of AEW Fyter Fest. “The Magical Girl” finds her way back to AEW as a “Superbad Girl” awaits her arrival.

The possible culmination of a 23-year long love-hate relationship between two former friends now turned bitter enemies, two spectacular championship matches sanctioned for the night, and a lot more coming your way on the very first night of Fyter Fest. If you think Miami brought the heat last week then strap yourselves in. Texas will undoubtedly give AEW and its fans one hell of a ride. Because “It’s Wednesday Night, and you know what that means!”. It’s time for some AEW Dynamite. Let’s run it down.

    Nail In The Coffin

The worst is yet to come for either Darby Allin or “All Ego” Ethan Page this Wednesday night. These two men will compete in the first-ever “Coffin Match” in AEW history.

Ethan Page seemingly has been hellbent on destroying Darby Allin since the moment they crossed paths in All Elite Wrestling.

No action was never low enough and no attack too disgusting if it meant hurting Allin. Page is fed up now.

Page not only wants to hurt Darby but exterminate and extinguish his burning fire once and for all. But, Allin begs to differ.

This just wasn’t a random chance of fate that brought these two together.

This is calculated and personal. It’s been a long time coming. Allin claims that from day one, Page has been jealous of him and reviled him for making it to AEW first.

That even in their time in the independent scene, Allin did in his first year alone what took Ethan 12 years to do in the professional wrestling business and that fact eats up Ethan Page inside.

    AEW Fyter Fest Night 1

Page denied none of this. He completely agrees with the statements made towards him.

Page does hate the fact Darby supposedly skipped the line and bypassed him on his way to AEW.

Page feels it in his heart that Allin owes him a lot and is hugely responsible for what Allin has been able to accomplish thus far in his young career. Page is looking for payback.

And he is looking to cash in this Wednesday night. He wants to end Darby’s career and it seems like nothing will stop him.

Will Darby Allin escape death once more or will “All Ego” Ethan Page finally have Allin dead to rights?

The Magical Girl versus The Superbad Girl

Yuka Sakazaki finally makes her return to AEW after an extended hiatus on Night One of Fyter Fest. “The Magical Girl” will go up against “Superbad Girl” Penelope Ford.

Ford has won her last two matches and has looked very impressive in the year 2021.

If she keeps this pace up she will undoubtedly be in the upper echelon of AEW World Women’s Championship contenders in no time at all.

Not to be outdone, Sakazaki, although not being in the U.S. at the time, competed in the Japan bracket of the AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament.

Wherein she defeated Mei Suruga and icon Emi Sakura on her way to the Japan sides finals where she lost in a valiant effort against overall tournament winner Ryo Mizunami.

    AEW Fyter Fest Night 1

In a bit of a twist of fate, Ford is actually one of Sakazaki’s last opponents before her untimely but temporary departure from U.S. soil. The other one being Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.

in a tag match wherein Sakazaki tagged with fellow Joshi superstar Riho. The excitement is at an all-time high once these two very talented women lock up in the middle of the ring.

Will Penelope Ford make three-straight wins or will Yuka Sakazaki pull a rabbit out of the hat in her return to AEW?

    AEW Fyter Fest Night 1

Jon Moxley Vs. Karl Anderson For The IWGP United States Championship

Whether it’s thanks to the pandemic or not, Jon Moxley remains the IWGP United States Champion and has had that honor for well over a year at this point.

The title will be defended for a second time in recent memory on AEW during night one of Fyter Fest. Against Karl Anderson, no less.

Not only will this be a great match, but Anderson’s affiliation with New Japan likely means the title will finally change hands.

    AEW Fyter Fest Night 1

Ethan Page Vs. Darby Allin In A Coffin Match

Since AEW is only two years old, it has the luxury of reeling off firsts on a pretty regular basis. On night one of Fyter Fest, AEW’s next first will be a casket match. Well, actually, it’s a coffin match.

Although the rules of Darby Allin versus Ethan Page’s bout are yet to be explained, it’s assumed they will be the same as a casket match.

Either WWE owns the rights to the term casket match, or AEW has tweaked the name since Allin’s finisher is called the Coffin Drop.

Speaking of which, Allin seems the most likely candidate to win this one.

    AEW Fyter Fest Night 1

Brain Cage Vs. Ricky Starks For The FTW Championship

It was unclear what AEW had planned for Taz’s FTW Championship when it was first introduced.

Turns out not much beyond using it to demonstrate Taz’s faith in Brian Cage, and that’s a good thing.

However, using it to further the in-fighting within Team Taz is an even better thing.

The team’s answer to squabbles is always to have his guys fight it out, and that has now blown up in Taz’s face.

Starks to win this one, taking the FTW Title and further driving a stake into the heart of Team Taz.

    AEW Fyter Fest Night 1

    Matt Hardy Vs. Christian Cage

Who would have thought that in 2021 we would be settling down to watch Matt Hardy go one-on-one with Christian Cage?

And in a promotion that wasn’t even close to existing the first time these two clashed inside a WWE ring.

The moment this match was teased on Dynamite, most old-school fans would have gotten pretty excited.

They might not be as young as they used to be, but Cage and Hardy are two of the smartest veterans out there.

That alone will make this a contender for match of the night. Cage to win this one and further his quest to get a shot at Kenny Omega.

    AEW Fyter Fest Night 1

    Penelope Ford Vs. Yuka Sakazaki

Unfortunately, there isn’t going to be much in the way of women’s wrestling during Fyter Fest’s first night.

That appears to be being saved for night two on which Britt Baker will be defending the AEW Women’s Title against Nyla Rose.

Penelope Ford and Yuka Sakazaki will be flying the flag for AEW’s women’s division during night one.

Ford was circling the title at one point but has fallen off the radar somewhat. A win here would put her back on track to being in contention.
